The wedding of Monique Gallwey and Mark van de Steeg!

The news was announced to all and sundry with these words:

I never believed this day would ever come, but after more than 30 years I have finally found the part that has been missing all this time in my life. In December 2000, a chance encounter with a fellow backpacker on a bus to Bangkok marked the start of the rest of my life. His name is Mark van de Steeg and having finally found him, I want to share the rest of my life with him and grow old together with him. So I am going to marry him!

Hoewel ik nu al jaren dacht dat het nooit zou gebeuren omdat ik het niet wilde en daar ook hele goede argumenten voor had, ben ik nu ineens van gedachten veranderd. In december 2000 heb ik mijn toekomst ontdekt. Ze heet Monique Gallwey en zat naast me in de bus naar Bangkok. Met haar wil ik mijn leven verder leven. Met haar wil ik samenwonen. Met haar wil ik oud worden. Met haar ga ik trouwen!

It will be a very small family gathering in The Netherlands, but at a later stage we plan to throw a house-warming party in our new house (yet to be found!) in Alsace in France, where all our friends will be welcome. Hopefully you can join us then to celebrate the good news!

Het zal een kleine happening worden in Nederland, alleen voor familie. Maar in een later stadium zullen we een knalfeest geven in de vorm van een housewarming party in ons nog te vinden huis in Alsace, Frankrijk. Al onze vrienden zullen daar welkom zijn. Hopelijk kun je er dan bij zijn om het goede nieuws samen met ons te vieren!

Wij gaan We are going to trouwen get married op on 25 Augustus 25th, 2001 om at 14h00 in at Goudestein, Maarssen, The Netherlands. Kom ons geluk vieren Come and celebrate our happiness tussen at 16h00 - 19h00 in de Winkel van Sinkel, Utrecht. Zoals bekend As you know: het grote feest the big party komt will happen later, in Frankrijk in France, als we when we ons nieuwe huis gevonden hebben have found our new house!

The Programme

Despite the fact that we STILL don't know if we can REALLY marry, we have drawn up a programme for our official go-ahead. It has become a lot more extensive than we thought in the beginning ("It will be a very small family gathering in The Netherlands...") but we are looking forward to it very much. We hope everybody is able to come and also that it will be the most beautiful weather in the world!

Hoewel we NOG STEEDS niet weten of we wel ECHT kunnen trouwen, hebben we toch gewoon een programma opgesteld voor ons officiële startsein. Het is allemaal veel uitgebreider geworden dan we ons in eerste instantie hadden voorgesteld ("Het zal een kleine happening worden in Nederland, alleen voor familie...") maar we hebben er erg veel zin in. We hopen dan ook maar dat iedereen kan komen en dat het ook nog eens het mooiste weer van de wereld gaat worden!
